What I didn't get a chance to tell you all yesterday was my horrible experience trying to get my ancient old GMC Jimmy (I call her Beatrice) inspected. She failed miserably of course. She has been my trusted companion for years and I love her. Quite frankly I would hate to have to drive anything else. Unfortunately she's going to cost us another $1,200 to keep her on the road. She needs brake work and ball joint replacement. We have no idea where we're going to get the money so she's garaged for now. I feel like I'm stuck at home now because she's really not safe to drive. The good news is my dad is going to visit my sister at college for spring break next week so I'll be able to borrow his car. After that, who knows? My job at McD's was supposed to be paying for the groceries and feeding my yarn habit. It'll take me nearly a month and a half of paychecks to supplement my savings in order to fix Bea. So much for groceries...and at least I have a bit of stash to work with. Have I mentioned how being poor really really sucks??
LD had a great nap. He was out for almost 3 hrs! It gave me time to cast on the Very Cropped Hoodie Sweater I'm making for my niece. I was a little unsure about the pattern and I've already found one error (and corrected it along the way). So far it's knitting up quite well. I'm almost done the yoke, then I'll have to divide for the sleeves. It's knit with a double strand of Patons Shetland Chunky Tweed on size 17 and 19 29" circulars. So you can imagine how bulky it is! It's a lovely color of tan with bits of light and dark blue as the tweed accents. I can't wait to see how it looks when it's done! I just hope Jenny will agree to model it for me (and it actually fits her)!
After the sweater, I'll be doing another bag. This one is a tote with side pockets. I'm going to use the lovely yarn I got on sale this past weekend. I need to look into felting needles. I'd love to learn how to use them and make a pattern on the outside of the tote. The pattern calls for sheep but I think I'd do flowers. If I decide it's going to be a yarn bag then maybe I'll consider the sheep appliqué.
Well, got to run for now. Dinner needs to be made - chili has been simmering all day, just need to make the cornbread - and LD needs a little one on one before Daddy gets home!
Ciao and Happy Knitting!
